João Pedro Miranda grew up in Ribatejo more specifically in Vila Franca de Xira. He started to ride at the age of 8, owned his first horse when he was 10, and by 17, he was a professional in this hard but noble art.
During his way, among other influences and references, he was fortunate to meet, learn and practice Classical riding at the house of the Great Master Luís Valença. Later, he deepened his knowledge in the Army and in Competition riding. (German doctrine).
Nowadays João Pedro Miranda’s riding is a fusion and combines the best of what each type of riding offers, in applying his method of work, and techniques from each one. So his permanent goal is that the horses are calm, forward going, straight, with impulsion and flexibility, within the accuracy and the correction of exercises that this rider advocates.
João Pedro Miranda was ranked first in his riding monitor course – in Mafra – 2002. As an official of the Portuguese Equestrian Federation, he’s a National Dressage Judge, having judged for many years some of the biggest dressage competitions in the country, such as the National Dressage Championships, the finals of the Dressage Cup of Portugal, the Professional Riders Championships and numerous other dressage competitions.
He was also part of the organization of many competitions, as well as having been a scribe for international judges in various Dressage competitions. Also on his curriculum, there are presentations to the public in major equestrian exhibitions in the country (National Horse Fair - Golegã / International Festival of the Lusitano / International Salon of the Sport Horse / Horse Fair of Ponte de Lima / Equus and International Show Jumping Competition), numerous National horse fairs and even shows done abroad such as France and Thailand.
The LUSITANUS MIRANDA project was created in the Algarve on June 2012, and is based on work philosophy, methods of great precision and discipline that the equestrian art demands. Constantly seeking to combine the magic of Equestrian Art whilst performing each exercise correctly and improving the horse's movements. We represent, above all, the global expression and combination of Dressage and Classical riding, seeking within our possibilities to preserve and promote the Equestrian Art as a cultural patrimony and contribute, for the development of Equestrian activities in the Algarve.
We breed Portuguese horses, we are National Dressage riders and judges, we organize Dressage competitions and we also do Equestrian shows, in the classic riding way.
