Driving Cattle is one of the most traditional horseback activities you can experience. In a Cattle Drive at Meldon Farm, you will work as part of a team to help guide and steer the cows to their grazing areas. Each rider will have a position and a job to do, depending on their preference and ability. This experience is truly magical and you will be able to take in some of the most picturesque scenery and landscapes while riding across different terrains. The scenery is ever-changing, and the views are spectacular!
With a trail ride at Dartmoor you can expect a full service experience. You will check-in at a local inn where the staff will discuss your stay with you so you will know what the plans are for the following day. After a comfortable overnight stay, fuel up on a hearty breakfast at the inn before being collected and brought to Meldon Farm for around 10am. Tack up and head off for 4-5 hours across Dartmoor to a stunning viewpoint where you can enjoy either a packed lunch or nip into one of the local pubs for a delicious feast. Happily refuelled, your group will ride home via a different route, arriving just in time for tea and cakes at Meldon Farm. Everything is taken care of during your stay and you will be transferred back to your hotel in the early evening for another night in your accommodation.
From the M5 come off at J31 near Exeter take the westbound A30 signposted Okehampton; after approximately 25 miles at Sourton junction (first junction after Okehampton), exit; turn right under the A30, pass in front the filling station and Little Chef; rejoin the A30 in opposite direction; after ½ mile exit signposted Okehampton, turn right at the end of slip road toward Meldon; after ¼ mile turn left just before white cottages, in past the village hall. Meldon Farm is 300m on the left.
